West Bengal: Re-Election Starts at 15 Polling Stations for Two Assembly Seats Following EC Directive
Voting commenced on Saturday (May 2) at 15 polling stations across two assembly constituencies in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, following the Election Commission’s order for repolls a day earlier due to allegations of electoral misconduct, according to an official.

The repolls were mandated in 11 polling stations in the Magrahat Paschim assembly constituency and four in Diamond Harbour.

Voting started at 7 am and will run until 6 pm, the official noted.
Elections in these two constituencies took place during the second phase of the state elections on April 29.
The decision for repolls stemmed from information gathered from returning officers and observers of the respective constituencies as well as “material circumstances,” the Election Commission official stated.

The BJP accused various polling stations in both assembly areas under the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency of widespread electoral fraud, which is represented by TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

The EC dispatched its special observer, Subrata Gupta, to investigate the allegations on-site.

Additionally, the EC will make a determination regarding repolling in the Falta assembly constituency on Saturday.

The West Bengal assembly elections were conducted in two phases – April 23 and April 29, under extraordinary security measures.

Vote counting is scheduled for May 4.
