West Bengal Election 2026 Live Updates: The second and final phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections will commence, with more than 3.21 crore voters eligible to participate on Wednesday, April 29.

Voting will start at 7 am and will remain open until 6 pm across 142 constituencies, mainly in seven districts of South Bengal.

In this phase, 1,448 candidates are in the race, with the focus on Bhowanipore, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee competes against BJP’s Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari.

The constituency breakdown sees North 24 Parganas with 33 seats, followed by South 24 Parganas (31), Hooghly (18), Nadia (17), Howrah (16), East Burdwan (16), and Kolkata (11).

Around 2,400 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel will be deployed throughout the state, ensuring a heavy presence in all 142 constituencies. Live webcasting will be in effect at sensitive polling stations for real-time monitoring by the Election Commission. The use of mobile phones and cameras is prohibited within polling booths.

The first phase of voting in West Bengal saw an unprecedented 93.19% turnout across 152 seats on April 23, marking the highest in the state’s election history.

Results for both phases, along with the Assembly Elections of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu, are expected to be revealed on May 4.
