US-Iran War Live Updates: President Donald Trump has stated that the US Navy possesses “100%” control over the Strait of Hormuz, claiming to have cleared the vital waterway of mines, despite Tehran’s assertion that it will not reopen the strait until the US lifts its blockade on Iranian ports.

“Our blockade is unyielding. It’s a steel wall. We allow in those we choose to allow in,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, adding: “We control the Strait of Hormuz 100%.”

The strait’s closure, which typically facilitates the passage of about one-fifth of global oil supplies, has become one of the war’s most enduring repercussions.

Iran demands that the US end its naval blockade and economic sanctions, unfreeze Iranian assets, and compensate Tehran for substantial war-related damages.

In response, Trump has issued his own demand for Iran to compensate for casualties and damages linked to years of conflict, attacks, and protests. “If there are damages to cover, I believe Iran should be responsible,” he stated, in a new escalation that could hinder attempts to revive a preliminary peace agreement that faltered after being signed in June.

Meanwhile, Iran expressed skepticism regarding the newly signed security pact involving Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, asserting it is not aimed at Tehran.

Additionally, a US State Department official accused Hezbollah of trying to obstruct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, although Washington maintains an optimistic outlook on their progress.
