The Minister remarked that “the nature of the emerging threat from the latest AI Model is unprecedented,” emphasizing that banks must implement all necessary preemptive measures to secure their IT infrastructures, protect customer data, and safeguard financial resources.
The Finance Minister convened a high-level meeting with scheduled commercial banks, which included the MEITY Minister, DFS Secretary, and officials from the RBI, NPCI, and other government-owned institutions.
While the government did not specifically cite Anthropic’s Mythos as the reason for the Finance Minister’s meeting, sources confirmed that the meeting was intended to evaluate the potential impacts of emerging AI threats, such as Mythos, and the risk of these technologies being exploited to weaponize software vulnerabilities.

In the meantime, DFS Secretary Nagaraju stated, “We are transitioning from scale to complexity, where expectations are increasing, and risks are becoming sharper…. We are discussing today, as you all know, this Anthropic Mythos that everyone is talking about. It represents both a threat and an opportunity for the fintech industry to explore what can actually be done to address this.”
