The speculation arises amidst reports from CNN-News18, which, citing sources, indicate that Poonawalla has submitted his resignation to BJP leadership for personal reasons.
According to these reports, an official statement is anticipated. However, neither the BJP nor Poonawalla has confirmed this publicly.
On Thursday, Poonawalla posted a screenshot of his revised X bio with the caption, “My updated bio.” The updated bio refers to him as a “lifelong follower” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, omitting references to the BJP and his role as the party’s national spokesperson.

In one interview, he remarked: “I’ve been involved in active politics for about 18–19 years. I began at such a young age, so I’ve now reached 18–19 years in active politics. In terms of my capacity, I feel I’ve reached where I aimed to be. In 2024, I had considered that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term, I would step away from active politics.”

“There was a viral video of PM Narendra Modi where he appeared very emotional after securing a third term. Witnessing his reactions and knowing crucial elections were approaching, such as in Bengal, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Haryana, I chose to stay. I committed to working hard to win these elections to convey a message of political strength in the country before stepping away from active politics,” he stated.
Poonawalla also mentioned in another interview that political influence does not exclusively come from electoral politics and that social service holds greater significance than politics.Political journey
