US-Iran War Live Updates: Iran has accused the US of breaking the ceasefire following new strikes in the Hormuz region, warning of repercussions as discussions about reopening the Strait of Hormuz proceed.
The US military reported that the strikes in southern Iran targeted missile launch sites and vessels allegedly preparing to deploy mines. US Central Command described the actions as “self-defence strikes” executed with “restraint” during the ceasefire.
Iran’s foreign ministry deemed the attacks a breach of the ceasefire, asserting that the US would bear responsibility for “all consequences.” It further stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will not leave any act of aggression unchallenged.”
The Revolutionary Guard of Iran announced that it had downed a drone and engaged another drone along with an F-35 fighter jet within Iranian airspace. Explosions were also reported in Bandar Abbas, located near the Strait of Hormuz.
Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei cautioned regional countries against accommodating US military bases, asserting that they “will no longer act as a shield” for American forces.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that talks regarding the extension of the ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz might “take a few days.” China called for both parties to uphold the truce.
State television in Iran reported that Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had departed Qatar, where negotiations were underway.
Internet access has gradually resumed in various parts of Iran after restrictions were enforced during the conflict. NetBlocks labeled it the “longest nationwide internet shutdown in modern history.”
Iran also executed Gholamreza Khani Shakarab after finding him guilty of espionage for Israel’s Mossad.
