Ukraine's drone attacks ignite blaze at Russia's Tuapse oil terminal on the Black Sea
A fire erupted at Tuapse, Russia’s Black Sea port, following a Ukrainian drone assault overnight, as officials work to address the damage to the coastline from recent strikes.

The fire at a marine terminal in the Krasnodar region’s Tuapse district ignited after debris from a drone fell onto the facility, according to the regional task force’s update on Telegram. Over 80 personnel and 25 units of equipment, including Emergency Ministry teams, participated in extinguishing the blaze, though no further details were provided.

Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on Russian energy facilities to diminish the Kremlin’s revenues amidst rising oil prices associated with the conflict in Iran. Tuapse has been bombarded several times since early April, prompting Russia to declare a regional emergency in the city, which has a population of over 60,000 and houses one of the largest Black Sea ports, along with a refinery operated by Rosneft PJSC.
Local authorities reported that cleanup efforts in Tuapse are still ongoing due to an oil spill from previous drone strikes. As of May 26, more than 32,200 cubic meters (113,700 cubic feet) of contaminated soil and oil-water mixtures have been collected and removed.

In a separate incident, Ukraine launched a significant drone offensive overnight on Enerhodar, the location of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, with over 50 explosions noted, according to the plant’s spokeswoman Yevgenia Yashina, who spoke to Russia’s Interfax news outlet on Wednesday. Parts of Enerhodar, located in Russian-occupied southeastern Ukraine, experienced power outages and severe communication disruptions, she stated.

Ukraine has not yet responded to the allegations regarding the Enerhodar attack.

Overall, Russia encountered 140 drones across various regions overnight, as stated by the Defense Ministry. Several areas, including Voronezh adjacent to Ukraine, reported missile alerts. Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev mentioned that air defenses identified and neutralized two high-speed aerial objects over the city early Wednesday, and debris from the incident caused damage to a tire repair shop and a utility cabin.

Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, also endured nocturnal assaults, with more than 20 drones targeting the port city of Sevastopol, as reported by Moscow-appointed Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.

Russia launched 163 drones against Ukraine during the night, including Shahed attack drones, decoy drones, and jet-powered UAVs, according to Ukraine’s Air Force on Wednesday.
