This development follows the US conducting strikes on Iran for the tenth successive night on Monday, indicating no signs of de-escalation despite ongoing discussions through mediators. Two oil tankers ignited in the Strait of Hormuz, and Yemen’s Houthis threatened to initiate a new conflict against Saudi Arabia.
US Central Command reported that the latest strikes targeted Iranian military command posts, maritime assets, missile and drone launch locations, as well as air defense installations. They noted that American forces have assisted around 900 commercial vessels carrying 450 million barrels of crude oil in transiting the strait since early May.
According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, significant fires erupted on two tankers following an explosion, prompting the evacuation of their crews. They cautioned that “as long as America’s actions persist in the region, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed.”
