Global dignitaries and mourners convene for Ali Khamenei's funeral in Tehran.

President Donald Trump stated that Iran is looking to ‘settle’ and that Washington has granted Tehran a ‘week off’ for the funeral of its former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

Iran has officially commenced the public funeral for its late Supreme Leader, according to local media sources.

The gathering in Tehran is anticipated to attract over 20 million attendees.

Reports indicate that Iran has also claimed the US has directed all its embassies worldwide to discourage countries from attending Khamenei’s funeral, warning that the US would view this as an “unfriendly act” with “negative repercussions for bilateral relations.”

Allegedly, US ambassadors in Africa have threatened to cut all development aid to countries that attend, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reportedly made calls to counterparts in at least five Arab nations, the reports included.

Approximately 13 countries have opted out of attending Khamenei’s funeral.

In the meantime, President Trump reiterated that Iran seeks to ‘settle’ and affirmed that Washington has given Tehran a week’s reprieve for the funeral.
