West Bengal Elections: Phase 2 Achieves Record High Turnout of 92%

Kerala Elections 2026: Initial Two Hours See 16% Voter Participation

West Bengal experienced a significant voter turnout of 91.66% during the second phase of the Assembly elections, despite some reports of sporadic violence in various districts. The Election Commission noted a total turnout of 92.47% across both phases, marking the highest participation since Independence.

Phase I, conducted on April 23, recorded a turnout of 93.19%, indicating robust voter engagement despite a few incidents of unrest.

An estimated voter turnout of 89.99% was noted by 5 PM during the second and final phase of the West Bengal Elections 2026.

High participation rates are being observed in West Bengal’s Assembly Elections 2026 phase 2 polling occurring on Wednesday, April 29.

As of 3 PM, a voter turnout of 78.68% was recorded according to ECINET.
By 1 PM, 61.11% voter turnout was logged in Bengal, based on Election Commission data.

At 11 AM, the recorded turnout was 39.97%, as indicated by the Election Commission’s ECINET mobile application.

Earlier, at 9 AM, a turnout of 18.39% was observed.

Voting began at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM across 142 constituencies on Wednesday, April 29.

More than 3.21 million voters are eligible to cast their votes and influence the outcomes for 1,448 candidates competing in the second phase of the Bengal elections.

West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari, the BJP’s Leader of Opposition, are also running in this election from the Bhabanipur constituency.

In the first phase of the Bengal elections, the state achieved a historic voter turnout of 93.19%, the highest in its history.

The counting of votes and announcement of results are scheduled for May 4. Results for the Assembly Elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu will also be revealed on the same day.
