Vijay will depart from Chennai on Wednesday morning, with senior state officials, including the Home Secretary, managing the arrangements for the visit, according to reports.
During his trip, Vijay is set to inaugurate a statue of the revered Tamil poet-saint Thiruvalluvar at Jawaharlal Nehru University. This statue has been installed by the Tamil Nadu government.
Vijay was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, following Assembly elections that led to a significant political transformation in the state. His party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the largest party by securing 108 seats, and subsequently garnered support from Congress, Left parties, VCK, and IUML to form the government.
After the election victory on April 23, Vijay took the oath of office during a ceremony in Chennai, where Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy.
Following the ceremony, PM Modi extended his congratulations to Vijay on social media: “Congratulations to Thiru C Joseph Vijay on taking oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. Best wishes for his tenure ahead. The Central Government will continue to collaborate with the Tamil Nadu Government to enhance the lives of citizens.”

During his visit to Delhi, Vijay is also expected to meet with senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, as reported by ANI.
Earlier this month, the Tamil Nadu government unveiled portfolio allocations for the new cabinet. Vijay retained crucial departments, including Home, Police, Municipal Administration, Urban and Water Supply, Women Welfare, and Special Programme Implementation.
The state government also established a dedicated Artificial Intelligence department at the cabinet level, making Tamil Nadu the second state after Kerala to have a specific AI portfolio. Kumar R was appointed as the minister for Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, and Digital Services, while KA Sengottaiyan was given charge of the Revenue department, and N Marie Wilson took on the Finance portfolio.
