Trump announces ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, plays down Iran discussions.
US President Donald Trump described his recent conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “very productive,” confirming that no troops will be sent to Beirut. He mentioned that any forces previously en route have already been turned back.

In a social media update, he added that he had a separate discussion with Hezbollah via “highly placed representatives,” asserting that both parties agreed to cease all shooting.

Trump stated that under this agreement, Israel will refrain from attacking Hezbollah, and Hezbollah will not target Israel.

This latest development followed remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who indicated that the ceasefire between Iran and the United States encompasses all fronts, including Lebanon.

In a post on X, Araghchi stated that any infraction on one front would signify a breach of the ceasefire across all fronts.

Trump’s Conflicting Messages on Iran Negotiations

In another social media update, Trump noted that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran are “continuing, at a rapid pace.”

However, earlier, CNBC reported that Trump expressed indifference towards the negotiations, saying, “I don’t care if they’re over, honestly. I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less,” asserting that the lengthy discussions “started to get very boring.”

In an NBC News interview, he mentioned he had not received any updates about Iran potentially suspending its negotiations with the U.S. and said he wasn’t sure if that was accurate.

He further commented that if such news were true, “it’ll be a good thing,” because the talks had dragged on too long and that the U.S. had been “talking a lot, perhaps too much.”

Trump emphasized that this did not imply a military escalation, stating, “we’re not going to start dropping bombs,” suggesting that a pause in negotiations “could be a long time.”

He reiterated that the U.S. would maintain the blockade, adding that Iran was “losing a fortune” under the current circumstances.

These remarks come amid rising tensions in the region involving Iran, Israel, and Lebanon.
