Eliminate Excessive Regulations to Attract Investors and Promote Job Creation: Bihar Chief Minister to Officials

Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary Retains 29 Portfolios, Assigns 18 Departments to His Deputies
On Monday, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary instructed all government departments to eliminate “unnecessary compliances” and streamline regulatory processes to foster a more favorable environment for investment, business, and job creation. Choudhary emphasized that deregulation and procedural reforms are crucial for attracting investments and encouraging entrepreneurship. He made these remarks during a high-level review meeting focused on ‘Compliance Reduction and Deregulation’ at his official residence in Patna. A statement from the CMO indicated that Choudhary urged the state government to act promptly on directives from the Centre concerning compliance reduction and deregulation, aiming to simplify, enhance transparency, and improve the efficiency of business operations, industrial activities, trade, and public services.
During the gathering, he assessed reform initiatives and proposed future action plans presented by senior officials from key government departments. “The government’s role should be to support citizens and entrepreneurs. Industries, investors, startups, commercial establishments, and citizens should not have to make repeated trips to government offices to secure services,” stated Choudhary.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to bolster digital platforms, broaden self-certification options, ensure online approval processes, and guarantee timely service delivery. He urged the departments to evaluate permissions, inspection protocols, and reporting requirements within their purview, and to present solid proposals for the simplification of procedures.
