Packers Running Back Josh Jacobs Taken Into Custody on Domestic Abuse Allegations
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is now facing five counts, including charges of strangulation and suffocation, following a disturbance complaint that drew police attention over the weekend.

Police Chief Michael Renkas from Hobart/Lawrence, Wisconsin, announced that Jacobs was taken into custody on Tuesday and placed in Brown County Jail on charges including strangulation and suffocation, battery-domestic abuse, criminal damage to property-domestic abuse, disorderly conduct-domestic abuse, and intimidation of a victim.

Renkas mentioned that officers responded to the complaint regarding Jacobs on Saturday at 8:37 a.m.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” Renkas stated. “No further information will be released at this time.”

The strangulation and suffocation allegation is classified as a felony, while the other four are misdemeanors, according to the charge details available in the Brown County Jail’s online case record.

Jacobs’ legal team — David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac — released a collective statement on his behalf.

“Josh firmly denies the allegations, and this case is in the early stages of investigation with key evidence yet to be disclosed,” they stated. “We request fairness and restraint as the legal process unfolds.”

Jacobs stands as the Packers’ leading returning rusher, having gained 929 yards and scored 13 touchdowns last season. This followed a 2024 season in which he accumulated 1,329 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, earning him his third Pro Bowl selection.

He is the sole player on Green Bay’s roster who rushed for over 200 yards last season. Emanuel Wilson, who was the Packers’ second-leading rusher last year, signed with the Seattle Seahawks during the offseason.

The Packers kicked off their organized team activities on Tuesday. Coach Matt LaFleur will address reporters on Wednesday.

“We are aware of the circumstances involving Josh Jacobs,” stated a Packers spokesman. “Due to the ongoing legal situation, we will refrain from further comments.”

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy noted that “we are aware of the report and have been in communication with the club.”

Jacobs played his first five seasons with the Raiders. He received All-Pro honors and led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards with Las Vegas in 2022.

Over his seven-year career, he has rushed for a total of 7,803 yards and scored 74 touchdowns. The only active players with more career rushing touchdowns are Baltimore’s Derrick Henry (122) and Buffalo’s Josh Allen (79).
