The altercations took place near polling booths in Nowda, where supporters from both factions engaged in intense arguments that turned into physical confrontations, according to news agency ANI.
Security forces were deployed to manage the situation and curb any further conflicts.
Earlier, unidentified individuals reportedly launched crude bombs in the Nowda area.
Several people sustained injuries, as reported by news agency PTI.

A victim recounted to ANI, “I went out yesterday to offer Namaz around 8 pm… I was standing… when two boys approached and threw a bomb near my foot. This was done by Humayun Kabir’s party workers…”
Polling continues under strict security
In spite of the unrest, officials asserted that voting was largely uninterrupted. ASP Majid Khan stated to ANI, “The situation is calm. Nothing has occurred anywhere…”
Authorities confirmed that polling inside booths was ongoing smoothly, with increased vigilance outside.
Political responses intensify
In response to the incidents, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh accused the district of irregularities, while Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar called on the Election Commission to stay vigilant, PTI reported.
BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul further accused the state government of employing intimidation tactics and demanded closer monitoring by officials.
