Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Monday accused the TMC of losing in West Bengal not due to the BJP but because of the Election Commission, central forces, and the disenfranchisement of 2.5 million voters.

He asserted that this election was not won but stolen.

In a post on X, Sibal stated, “In West Bengal, the TMC was defeated not by the BJP but by the Election Commission, Central Forces (CAPF), and the disenfranchisement of 2.5 million voters.” “This election was stolen, not won! We must support Mamata,” the Independent Rajya Sabha MP remarked.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also alleged that Assam and West Bengal are clear examples of elections being “stolen” by the BJP with the backing of the Election Commission (EC).

Gandhi mentioned that his party concurs with Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee that over 100 seats were taken unlawfully in West Bengal.

These comments followed Banerjee’s declaration that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) overwhelming victory in the West Bengal elections was “immoral” and that the mandate for more than 100 seats was “looted.”

“We will bounce back,” Banerjee stated while exiting the counting center at her Bhabanipur Assembly constituency.
