The young player recently drew significant attention by scoring an impressive 168 runs off just 119 balls in a local 40-over match, hitting 19 fours and six impressive sixes. His explosive innings created quite a buzz on social media, with Vaibhav also lauding the incredible feat.
Who is Ashirvad Sooryavanshi?
The Sooryavanshi family includes three cricket-enthusiastic brothers, with Ashirvad being the youngest. Motivated by Vaibhav’s success, the 10-year-old has begun to garner a reputation for his bold strokeplay and is currently honing his skills through formal cricket training.
His latest century came during his debut for Cricket Academy Tajpur, where he scored a smooth 103 off merely 87 balls. This innings, which comprised 20 boundaries and a six, showcased his aggressive intent and innate talent with the bat. Presently, Ashirvad plays for Rishabh XI.
Notably, his achievements are even more impressive considering he has only been involved in organized cricket for six months. Despite his limited experience, he has quickly adapted to the competitive environment, making an immediate mark.
“Ashirvad abhi 6 mahina pehle hi start kiya hai. Bat handling, grip karna jaldi seekh gaya (Ashirvad only started playing cricket six months ago, but he quickly learnt the basics of bat handling and grip),” Ashirvad’s coach, Chandra Deep, shared with *The Times of India (TOI)*.
“Wo kahawat ki bade miyaan to bade miyaan, chhote miyaan subhanallah. Bas wahi samajh lijiye. Dono bhai, dono tabaahi (You know the saying, ‘if the elder is great, the younger is magnificent.’ Just look at it that way. Both brothers are absolute destruction [in a cricketing sense]),” he further added.
Ashirvad’s passion for cricket developed while observing Vaibhav during practice, often accompanying him to training sessions where he learned by watching. According to Chandra Deep, the young player has a composed nature and prefers to let his bat speak for him.
“He says, ‘I want to play like my brother and work just as hard.’ Vaibhav has greatly inspired him,” Deep remarked.
Vaibhav’s rapid progress, marked by his selection for India’s T20I tours to England and Ireland, as well as the Asian Games squad at a record-breaking age, has already captivated the nation. Now, eyes are beginning to focus on Ashirvad, who is showing signs of treading a similar path.
