This declaration was made during a discussion with students in Rajasthan, where numerous participants raised concerns about the existing ticket-booking system, particularly issues surrounding CAPTCHA verification and the overall user experience.
As reported by ANI, one student highlighted the frustrations caused by the CAPTCHA system during ticket purchases. In response to this feedback, Vaishnaw inquired if railway officials could expedite the rollout of an enhanced platform within 30 days, later confirming that the new website will go live by July 15.
While the Railways Ministry has yet to reveal the specific features of the updated portal, this initiative indicates a commitment to enhancing the digital ticket-booking experience for passengers. The IRCTC website is the primary channel for railway ticket reservations and manages millions of transactions.
The anticipated upgrade is in response to the growing demand for more efficient and quicker online booking services, especially during peak times like Tatkal bookings and festive travel seasons. Users frequently report issues, including website slowdowns and difficulties with authentication during times of high traffic.
The minister’s announcement implies that passenger feedback is instrumental in guiding improvements in railway digital services. More details regarding the website’s features, design changes, and technical upgrades are expected as the launch date approaches.
The announcement occurred during Vaishnaw’s visit to Rajasthan, where he also introduced various technology and infrastructure projects. These include the creation of an Advanced Quantum Computing and Quantum Communications Lab at the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur, as part of a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology initiative focused on quantum technologies.
In addition, the minister virtually launched a 20 KW Akashvani FM transmitter in Ramgarh, Jaisalmer, aimed at enhancing radio coverage in Rajasthan’s border areas.
