This will provide travelers with a cleaner, safer, and more convenient transportation option, while also supporting the state’s green mobility objectives.
In addition to the electric buses, the Chief Minister also launched a new Noida bus depot, which will act as a central hub for expanding the electric bus network.
During the launch event, CM Yogi Adityanath stated, “EV buses will begin operations by June 15, with a target of 500 EV buses planned to meet the demand for post-flight services at Jewar Noida International Airport.”
The Chief Minister mentioned that two electric bus manufacturing plants run by Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland have been established in Uttar Pradesh. He also revealed that three hydrogen-powered buses would be supplied by the Yamuna Authority.
According to officials, a total of 100 electric buses, including 10 double-decker buses, are ready to operate from the Sector 90 bus depot. These buses are designed to facilitate intercity travel and will connect major residential, commercial, and transport hubs across Noida and Greater Noida.
Many of these routes will lead to the Jewar airport, while other buses will link key locations such as Botanical Garden, Sector-62, Greater Noida West, Surajpur, and Pari Chowk. Additionally, connectivity will extend to Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, and ISBT.
Long-distance routes are also planned to connect rural and urban areas within the Yamuna Authority region.
A state-of-the-art charging infrastructure has been installed at the depot to support the fleet. High-speed chargers, capable of fully charging buses in about two hours, will ensure efficient operations.
The Noida Authority and Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will collaborate to manage the service. Officials believe the buses will be particularly beneficial for the residents of Greater Noida West, where public transport options have been scarce.
