The inaugural scheduled flight, IndiGo 6E-2278, touched down at 7:55 am, arriving from Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. After landing, the aircraft proceeded to Bengaluru, where it was expected to arrive at 11:05 am.
This launch signifies a major advancement in India’s aviation infrastructure, improving connectivity throughout Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region (NCR).
The first arrival was met with cheers and celebrations. Passengers on board applauded to commemorate the event, while airport officials honored the aircraft with a ceremonial water cannon salute.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the commercial operations at the airport, which aims to become a significant aviation hub for the NCR.

In a meaningful gesture, around 170 farmers from the Jewar area were scheduled to fly on the inaugural Lucknow flight. The group, led by local legislator Dhirendra Singh, is set to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to express thanks for the projects that facilitated airport development.

The new airport is set to alleviate congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, while significantly boosting connectivity for local residents. Previously, many travelers between Noida and Lucknow depended on the Delhi airport or faced lengthy road trips.
Constructed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, this project is one of India’s largest greenfield airport undertakings. The first phase has been built with an investment of roughly ₹ 11,200 crore, featuring a 3,900-meter runway suitable for wide-body aircraft and equipped with advanced navigation systems.
Key things travellers should know
This airport offers travelers a new gateway linking western Uttar Pradesh and the NCR with prominent domestic destinations. The return IndiGo flight 6E-2279 is set to depart from Noida at 6:55 pm and arrive in Lucknow at 8 pm.
New travel option
Starting June 16, Akasa Air will also introduce daily flights from Noida International Airport to Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai, further diversifying travel options for passengers.

IndiGo has unveiled plans for direct connections from Noida International Airport to over 16 destinations throughout India, vastly increasing travel opportunities for those in the Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh.
Enhanced regional connectivity
The airline will provide seamless one-stop connections between several Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities and major metropolitan areas. Passengers will have connections between city pairs like Amritsar-Jodhpur, Bareilly-Bhopal, Bareilly-Jaipur, Chandigarh-Pantnagar, Jammu-Jodhpur, Jaipur-Dharamshala, and Kishangarh-Bhopal, among others.

From today, the airport will operate regular services to several destinations, including Lucknow, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Jammu, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Bhopal, Dehradun, Dharamshala, Pantnagar, Bareilly, Jodhpur, and Kishangarh.
