Blame Game Initiates: BJP and AAP Spar Over Toxic Air Crisis in Delhi
The blame game is underway as tensions escalate in Delhi over the increasing air pollution. Leaders from both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have exchanged harsh words regarding the pollution crisis.

Delhi minister Parvesh Verma remarked that the capital is suffering due to “AAP’s misdeeds.” He accused former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of failing to take action during his term.

Verma claimed that the Kejriwal administration neglected vital projects related to road construction, waste management, and cleaning the Yamuna, among others, according to News18. These statements were made during a press conference in New Delhi.
He stated that the current BJP government is implementing all necessary measures to combat pollution and is also constructing new roads to alleviate traffic congestion in Delhi.

“What you see before you represents the tasks that any responsible government should have completed to eliminate pollution. Whether it’s clearing mountains of garbage, repairing sidewalks, managing e-waste, cleaning the Yamuna, or tidying the roads… The AAP government should have undertaken all these projects over the past 11 years. If they had achieved even half of these goals, we would only have had to address the remaining issues… Yet, in the last 11 years, Arvind Kejriwal and his government have accomplished none,” he said.

“Today, when discussing pollution, we cannot ignore that this is not a one-year problem. Pollution has been growing in Delhi for years… It is unfortunate that Arvind Kejriwal has misled the people of Delhi…” he added.

These comments followed criticism from the AAP, asserting that the BJP government has failed to address the pollution crisis in Delhi, with air quality remaining at very poor and severe levels.

AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the BJP of deceiving the public regarding the pollution crisis, claiming that there was no effective monitoring of vehicles under BS-VI standards, as noted by News18.

In a separate incident, the Delhi BJP shared a video on X (formerly Twitter), showing an AAP councillor allegedly contributing to pollution by setting a fire in his own ward and recording it.

“During their 10 years in power, Aam Aadmi Party members did not undertake any work related to pollution. Now, after losing authority, they are engaged in an effort to create a false narrative and defame the government,” the party stated in Hindi in the post’s caption.

On December 17, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also criticized AAP, stating that the party abandoned the city after over a decade in government. He mentioned that an AAP councillor was burning garbage and recording the incident in his district.
