Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, is at the helm of a distinguished business delegation heading to Athens, Greece. They will engage in presentations and startup pitches at The Athens Startup Business Incubator (THEA), aiming to highlight next-generation enterprises and foster cross-border innovation collaborations.

In 2024, India’s exports to Greece reached $0.19 billion, while imports amounted to $170 million. Both nations are keen on doubling their bilateral trade by 2030. The free trade agreement between India and the European Union (EU) is also anticipated to boost trade further.

The delegation aims to engage in focused roundtable discussions with industry leaders from both India and Greece at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI). These discussions will target sectors such as infrastructure, digitalization, defense, and food and agriculture, with the goal of discovering new collaboration opportunities and enhancing private-sector partnerships.
Additionally, the delegation plans to visit various Greek enterprises to seek collaboration in advanced manufacturing and tech-driven sectors, fortifying industrial synergies between the two nations.

A statement from India’s Commerce Ministry noted that the “programme (in Greece) will feature high-level business interactions uniting key stakeholders from both countries to explore potential for increased investment and commercial partnerships across priority sectors, involving crucial business and institutional stakeholders that aim to deepen industry collaborations and enhance bilateral trade connections.”
