Karnataka Official Announces Upcoming Guidelines for AI Implementation in Medical Education

Karnataka’s Additional Chief Secretary (Medical Education), Mohammed Mohsin, announced on Friday that guidelines will soon be released to enhance the effective use of AI, which has seen significant growth worldwide, within the Department of Medical Education.

During a workshop discussion as part of the “Campus to Career – Future Ready University of Colleges” summit organized by the Department of Higher Education, Mohsin highlighted that this initiative would greatly benefit the youth.

He also noted that a protocol and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for AI usage is under consideration for release.
Mohsin further explained that there is a focus on the ethical use of AI in this context.

An Innovation Centre is planned to be established at the expansive campus of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bhimanakuppe on Mysuru Road, as stated in his remarks.

Additionally, he mentioned that decisions are being made regarding the comprehensive integration of AI across all colleges.

Recently, there has been an increase in complaints about mental health issues. In response, NIMHANS-model hospitals are being set up in Mysuru and Kalaburagi to assist in treating individuals with mental health concerns, Mohsin added.
