This initiative comes at a time when ridership levels in Indore and Bhopal Metro services are below expectations.
Named ‘Celebrations on Wheels,’ this program will enable the use of Metro coaches and specific station areas for creative and social activities, adhering to set fees and safety guidelines, MPMRCL announced on Tuesday.
“The Celebrations on Wheels initiative has been established with the vibrant culture of Indore and Bhopal in mind, along with the rapidly evolving urban lifestyle of residents,” stated MPMRCL Managing Director S Krishna Chaitanya.
“This effort aims to connect the Metro more closely with the public, offering a safe and modern setting for people to celebrate their special moments. We envision Metro services becoming an essential part of citizens’ everyday experiences,” he added.
As part of this initiative, activities such as filming, web series, documentaries, ad production, birthday celebrations, kitty parties, pre-wedding shoots, cinematography, and other creative endeavors will be allowed on the Metro, according to officials.
The cost for using this facility is set at ₹5,000 per hour for an undecorated stationary Metro coach and ₹7,000 per hour for an undecorated mobile coach, they mentioned.
For birthday celebrations, pre-wedding shoots, and kitty parties, a maximum of 50 participants will be permitted, with any additional individuals subject to MPMRCL fare policies, as stated by officials.
Additionally, a refundable security deposit of ₹20,000 for each coach must be paid at the time of booking, which will be returned following the event if all guidelines are adhered to, they noted.
