In his initial reaction to the exit polls released on Wednesday, the AIADMK general secretary remarked that “past successes will undoubtedly persist in this election as well.” He accused the DMK of “systematically” disseminating false information through exit polls.
The Leader of Opposition asserted that “they are deceiving the people of Tamil Nadu and our party workers. Thus, there is no need to be concerned about the predictions.” He claimed that the AIADMK has historically formed the government by “overcoming” all exit poll forecasts, recalling the 2011 and 2016 assembly elections won under the leadership of the late J Jayalalithaa.
“At that time, the exit polls suggested that the DMK government would remain in power, with only a few forecasts indicating a possible win for the AIADMK,” he said about 2011, noting that the DMK only secured 23 seats and lost its status as the main opposition party.
Palaniswami alleged that the DMK would attempt to create the illusion of certain victory and might incite chaos. “Therefore, all party workers, booth agents, candidates, and constituency election in-charges should proceed with utmost caution at the locations where vote counting will take place on May 4.” He expressed confidence that his party-led alliance would achieve victory in 210 out of the 234 assembly segments.
AIADMK leads the opposition NDA in the state, which includes constituents like BJP, AMMK, and PMK.
