Zee Entertainment Negotiating FIFA World Cup Broadcasting Rights in India

FIFA Reports That World Cup 2026 Global Sponsorship Packages Are Fully Sold.
Zee Entertainment of India is currently in negotiations with FIFA to secure streaming and broadcasting rights for the 2026 World Cup in the country, the company announced on Tuesday.

The statement did not include any financial specifics, but it comes amid stalled discussions between a joint venture of Reliance and Disney and the football organization, just weeks before the tournament begins on June 11.

Initially, FIFA had requested $100 million for the broadcast rights to both the 2026 and 2030 World Cups in India. However, it is now reportedly seeking no less than approximately $60 million, according to Reuters.
This figure still significantly surpasses the $20 million bid made by Reliance-Disney, which is led by billionaire Mukesh Ambani.

Meanwhile, Sony engaged in discussions but opted not to present an offer for the FIFA rights in India.

FIFA has successfully established agreements with broadcasters across more than 180 regions worldwide, it was previously reported.

Zee Entertainment made its announcement regarding negotiations with FIFA in conjunction with the launch of Unite8 Sports, a dedicated collection of sports channels aimed at enhancing its sports offerings for consumers.

In 2022, India contributed 2.9% to the global linear TV audience of the World Cup.
