The World No. 1 dominated Djokovic from the outset, reaching his fifth Grand Slam final where he will face Germany’s Alexander Zverev on Sunday.
Sinner, having lost to Djokovic in the semi-finals of this year’s Australian Open, flipped the script with an almost perfect display, not facing a single break point for nearly two hours as he controlled the baseline play.
The Italian struck decisively in the first set, breaking serve in the ninth game with a stunning backhand winner down the line before confidently closing out the set.
Djokovic showed brief resistance in the second set, but Sinner broke at 3-3 with a perfectly executed drop shot that left the seven-time Wimbledon champion stranded.
The top seed asserted himself early in the third set with another break of serve, never allowing Djokovic a chance to stage a comeback, and completed the straight-sets victory with clinical precision.
This loss represented another hurdle in Djokovic’s pursuit of an unparalleled 25th Grand Slam singles title and an eighth Wimbledon trophy.
The 39-year-old seemed to be feeling the strain of a challenging fortnight, having already spent over 16 hours on the court, including the tournament’s longest match against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals.
Sinner, on the other hand, has progressively improved with each round after overcoming an early scare in his title defense and will now aim to secure a fifth Grand Slam title when he faces Zverev in Sunday’s final.
