With two runs required off the last ball, Jos Buttler accurately dislodged the stumps as Kuldeep Yadav was unable to complete the run. However, before that, Miller had opted against a relatively easy single to take responsibility for finishing the game in style.
“Certainly, all three matches we played went down to the last over, but I’m very happy we managed to cross the finish line. (When Miller refrained from taking a single), I believed we had a chance to win,” Gill remarked after the match.
Regarding the choice for the final delivery, Gill suggested that a bowler capable of delivering slower balls was an ideal option, considering the nature of the pitch.
“We debated whether to go for a yorker or a slower ball, but given how the wicket performed, a slower one would be tough to hit.”
Gill felt that a total of 210 on this Kotla pitch was quite advantageous.
“210 on this wicket was 10-15 runs above par, and if we bowl effectively, we can achieve victory,” he stated.
GT had lost two matches prior to this fixture. They are now set to face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their next tournament game on April 12 at the latter’s home ground.
