RCB make light work of DC

It was a display of utter dominance; a powerplay onslaught so ferocious that the Delhi Capitals were left reeling as RCB launched a formidable new-ball attack, marking one of the most thrilling starts in IPL’s history.

Josh Hazlewood (4/12) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/5) turned the powerplay into a dismantling show, tearing through Delhi with two merciless three-over bursts that left the hosts struggling at 13 for six.

Only Abhishek Porel (30), David Miller (19), and Kyle Jamieson (12) managed to reach double digits, as the home team managed just eight fours and a six.

Delhi ultimately scored 75 in 16.3 overs but avoided the embarrassment of recording the lowest IPL score; RCB had set that record with 49 runs in 2017 against Kolkata Knight Riders.

In pursuit of a modest total, RCB openers Virat Kohli (23) and Jacob Bethell (20) provided a seamless start.

There were no issues apart from Bethell falling victim to a spectacular catch by T Natarajan off Kyle Jamieson.

Devdutt Padikkal contributed a fluent 34, showcasing some solid RCB batting that quickly took the game beyond Delhi’s reach.
