Vijay’s remarks following the oath as Tamil Nadu CM
In his inaugural speech post-oath, Vijay expressed gratitude to the citizens of Tamil Nadu for their backing and labeled the moment “a new beginning.”
“Let us all come together to give Tamil Nadu a fresh new government. This is a new beginning, the dawn of a new era of secular social justice,” Vijay proclaimed during his address.
He characterized himself as an everyday individual, promising to refrain from making unrealistic commitments to the public.
“I am not a divine envoy or a prophet. I am just an ordinary person leading a typical life. I will not mislead you with false promises. I will only guarantee what is achievable,” he asserted.

Emphasizing his connection with the electorate, Vijay mentioned he did not come from a political lineage and viewed himself as one of the people.
“I am not from a royal lineage. I am just like your son, your daughter, your elder brother, or your younger brother,” he stated while addressing the audience.
Vijay assured the crowd that there would be “no power centres” in his administration, committing to being solely responsible for the government’s operations.
TVK ends the dominance of DMK and AIADMK
The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections marked a significant political shift in the state, with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam rising as the single largest party in its inaugural electoral contest.
TVK secured 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, surpassing the majority threshold with support from allied partners including Congress, VCK, CPI, CPI(M), and IUML.
This victory ended the long-standing dominance of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu politics.
