UIDAI Introduces New Aadhaar Application: Key Features, Functionality, and User Updates
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has phased out the mAadhaar app, transitioning users to a newly redesigned Aadhaar mobile application.

Previously, UIDAI introduced the mAadhaar app to enable individuals to access Aadhaar services directly on their mobile devices. It permitted users to view their Aadhaar details, download e-Aadhaar, and share basic information digitally.

Currently, the authority is enhancing the platform with a new Aadhaar app that is more advanced, prioritizing security, privacy, and simplified verification. “Enjoy a smoother concert entry experience with the Aadhaar app,” the UIDAI posted on X.

Key features of the new Aadhaar app

The updated Aadhaar app places greater emphasis on privacy and the secure handling of personal data. It allows users to verify their identity through face authentication and share Aadhaar information via QR codes.

Additionally, the app gives users enhanced control over the Aadhaar information they choose to share.

New updates

Starting July 1, users will have the ability to update their email ID through the app, and this service will be available at no charge until the end of the year.

This update also introduces an Aadhaar update history feature located under the Profile tab, enabling users to easily view all past changes made to their Aadhaar details.

Another new feature is the Virtual ID and Aadhaar lock option found under the Security tab.

The new Aadhaar mobile app includes numerous upgraded features. A standout feature is face authentication, allowing users to log in securely and verify their identity through facial recognition. It also facilitates QR code-based Aadhaar sharing.

Another notable feature is the selective sharing of Aadhaar information, enabling users to decide which details to share.

The app further incorporates biometric lock and unlock controls, helping users safeguard their Aadhaar data from misuse.

Users can also manage Aadhaar verification and digital credentials directly within the app.

How to download and use the new Aadhaar app

The new Aadhaar app is accessible for both Android and iPhone users and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Step 1: Begin by downloading the new Aadhaar app from the official store.

Step 2: Sign in using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Step 3: Complete the biometric verification process.

Step 4: Set a new 4-digit PIN for app access.

Step 5: Once set up is finished, users can begin utilizing all Aadhaar services through the app.
