Trump warns of a full 100% tariff on nations implementing digital services taxes.
US President Donald Trump on Friday issued a warning about implementing a 100% tariff on all products from any nation that levies a digital services tax on American firms.

”Several European Nations are considering the forthcoming enactment of a Digital Services Tax aimed at American Businesses,” Trump stated in a social media announcement. ”Some of these Nations are nearing the point of actually carrying this out.

“Let this statement be a clear notice that any Nation that enacts such a Tax will face an immediate 100% TARIFF on any and all Goods sent to the United States of America.”
Trump noted that the new tariff would override any trade agreements with the United States, “regardless of whether they are executed, signed, or in progress.”

Last week, just hours before their meeting at the G7 summit, French President Emmanuel Macron asserted that France would not yield to Trump’s demands by abolishing its digital tax on American tech giants.

Before departing for the summit in France, Trump had cautioned that the U.S. would ”have no option” but to impose 100% tariffs on French wine unless Paris repealed its digital tax.

France has imposed a 3% tax since 2019 on revenues from digital services generated by companies with over €25 million in revenue locally and €750 million globally.
