Top-Four Contest and Relegation Fight Heat Up in the Premier League
As league leaders Arsenal and second-placed Manchester City focus on Sunday’s League Cup final, this Premier League weekend shifts attention to the relegation battle and a crowded top-four race.

Arsenal currently tops the table with 70 points, trailed by Manchester City (61) and Manchester United (54). Competing for the remaining Champions League spot are Aston Villa (51), Liverpool (49), Chelsea (48), and Brentford (45).

Further down, the relegation scenario remains uncertain. Burnley, with 20 points, and Wolves (17) sit at the bottom, while Nottingham Forest (29), West Ham United (29), Tottenham Hotspur (30), and Leeds United (32) hover uncomfortably close to the drop zone.
Manchester United heads south to Bournemouth, riding a wave of strong performance after reaching third place, while the home team sits 10th, 13 points behind them.

Michael Carrick has made a strong case for removing the “interim” label from his Man United managerial title, accumulating 22 points from a possible 27 since taking over after Ruben Amorim’s dismissal in early January.

“It’s a tough game, it is a tough place to go, they’re on a really good run of form,” Carrick remarked about Bournemouth, who remain unbeaten since January 3.

“We’re obviously going down there with a positive streak and the lads are fit, but it’s always a challenging match, and it likely always will be.”

Reigning champions Liverpool head to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, currently sitting fifth with 49 points, just two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, looking to secure their position for Champions League qualification.

Liverpool aims to build on their momentum from Wednesday’s impressive 4-0 Champions League victory over Galatasaray, resulting in a 4-1 aggregate win.

Leeds, who take on Brentford on Saturday, are positioned 15th with 32 points, three above the relegation zone, but their poor goal difference (-11) keeps them at risk in the relegation fight.

On Sunday, Spurs will host Nottingham Forest in a crucial clash.

Tottenham occupies 16th place with 30 points, just one above the relegation area. They are currently on a long winless streak, with their last league win on December 28.

Forest, trailing Spurs by just one point with 29, are also in a precarious situation. A loss for either team could see them drop into the bottom three by the end of the weekend.

Meanwhile, West Ham United will visit Aston Villa on Sunday. The hosts are in fourth place with 51 points, two ahead of Liverpool, but their performance has waned, suffering three consecutive losses and securing only two wins in their last 10 matches.

West Ham, ranking 18th with 29 points, urgently needs positive results to avoid falling out of the top tier for the first time since 2011.
