This MAGA influencer was revealed to be an AI; she's not the only fraudulent account.
A well-known social media influencer aligned with the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) ideology has been revealed as an AI-generated creation. The account, which garnered a significant following through politically charged and lifestyle-oriented posts, was reportedly established and managed by an individual located in India.

The person, depicted as a young American woman, consistently shared content that intertwined patriotic themes with eye-catching visuals, rapidly gaining popularity among viewers. In just a few weeks, the account racked up thousands of followers, with some posts achieving millions of views.

The creator allegedly utilized AI tools to develop the character’s look, produce content, and customize messaging to resonate with a designated audience segment.
The individual behind the now-exposed AI influencer is Sam (pseudonym), a 22-year-old medical student from northern India, who is training to become an orthopedic surgeon. Although he received some financial assistance from family, he stated that most of it went towards his exam fees. With aspirations to eventually relocate to the United States, he began exploring additional online income opportunities.

He tried various side projects, including creating YouTube Shorts and selling study notes to his peers. The pivotal moment, he recounted, arrived while he was browsing social media, where he decided to create an AI-generated female persona using Google Gemini’s Nano Banana Pro. Sam then utilized Gemini AI to develop an online character specifically designed for the “MAGA/conservative niche,” as reported by WIRED.

He crafted a digital persona that “the conservative audience (particularly older men in the US) generally possesses more disposable income and loyalty.” Thus, Emily Hart was born last January, a virtual nurse resembling Jennifer Lawrence.

On Instagram, established for the AI persona, @emily_hart.nurse, the creator frequently posted images of her engaged in various activities like ice fishing and shooting. These posts came with emoji-filled captions such as “If you want a reason to unfollow: Christ is king, abortion is murder, and all illegals must be deported,” along with “POV: You were assigned intelligent at birth, but you identify as liberal.”

According to reports, the individual behind the account monetized its popularity through merchandise sales and paid content platforms.

AI-generated profiles on the rise

This revelation sheds light on a broader trend of AI-generated influencers and fictitious personas gaining prominence across social media channels. In another case shared online, a user highlighted an account featuring an AI-generated woman with over 100,000 followers, illustrating the prevalence and realism of such profiles.

The influencer known as Vrutika Patel maintains an active online presence. She resembles a typical lifestyle and fashion content creator but is entirely artificial. Despite being a fictional entity, the account has managed to cultivate a paying audience. Reports indicate that with around 300+ subscribers paying ₹399 monthly, the profile generates over ₹1 lakh in income each month.

Another example is Naina Avtr, a 22-year-old virtual star from Mumbai boasting over 375,000 followers.

She specializes in fashion, fitness, and lifestyle content and has collaborated with significant brands like Nykaa, Puma, and Pepsi.

One notable account gaining attention is Kyra, widely considered India’s first virtual influencer. She is a Mumbai-based digital fashion model with over 250,000 followers and has partnered with brands such as Amazon Prime Video and boAt.

These instances highlight a growing trend where AI-generated influencers are swiftly becoming popular across social media platforms, often going unnoticed by users.
