The recall affects 2024-2026 model year Cybertrucks equipped with 18-inch steel wheels. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, challenging road conditions and cornering may put stress on the stud hole in the wheel rotor, resulting in cracks. With continued driving, this could eventually cause the wheel stud to separate from the wheel hub.
The separation of wheel studs could impact vehicle handling, increasing the likelihood of a collision.
For the vehicles involved, Tesla will replace the front and rear brake rotors, hubs, and lug nuts with more robust components at no charge to the owners.
The manufacturer’s recall number is SB-26-33-003. Owners can reach Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.
Additionally, Tesla is recalling over 200,000 Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Model 3 electric vehicles due to a software issue that temporarily disables the rearview camera.
The loss of the rearview camera feed may impair the driver’s visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Tesla’s recall number for this issue is SB-26-00-016.
There are currently no reports of accidents, fatalities, or injuries related to either of the recall issues described above.
