Strong Bowling Essential for Victory: Patidar Expects RCB Bowlers to Shine in IPL Final

RCB Dominates Delhi Capitals by Nine Wickets, Secures 12 Points on IPL Standings
Skipper Rajat Patidar expressed confidence in his strong bowling lineup, spearheaded by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, to secure Royal Challengers Bengaluru their second consecutive IPL title.

The Royal Challengers are set to face the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final on Sunday.

“To win the tournament, a solid bowling attack is essential. Taking wickets is crucial because on this pitch, scoring 200-220 runs is achievable. However, defending that total is significantly more challenging. Thus, having a strong bowling side is necessary,” Patidar stated during the pre-match press conference.
He praised senior pacer Bhuvneshwar for his leadership of the RCB bowling unit, highlighting that Bhuvneshwar has taken 26 wickets in 15 matches.
“I believe he has bowled exceptionally well. As an experienced bowler, competing at this high level isn’t easy. His planning and strategies are very clear, which plays a pivotal role,” the 32-year-old noted. However, he emphasized the need for adequate backup to support Bhuvneshwar and Josh Hazlewood in the new ball department.

“Definitely, when you have top bowlers like Bhuvi and Hazlewood, support from other bowlers is crucial. The way Rasik came in and delivered breakthroughs is vital because you can’t rely on just one or two bowlers to win the tournament.” Rasik has claimed 16 wickets in 11 matches, ensuring that the early successes of Bhuvneshwar and Hazlewood are not wasted.

“I think Rasik’s performance throughout the tournament has been superb, benefiting the team. There’s no undue burden on just one or two bowlers. Overall, it’s a strong team effort,” he added.

Regarding Phil Salt’s fitness, who injured his finger last month, Patidar mentioned: “He’s currently at the nets, performing drills and batting. We haven’t made a final decision yet; it will depend on the assessment by the doctor and the management.” On May 26, the Gujarat Titans secured their spot in the final, enjoying a four-day break before facing off on May 31. In contrast, GT faced a tighter schedule having taken a longer route.

Discussing RCB’s rest after Qualifier 1 before the final, Patidar remarked, “Yes, because after Qualifier 1, we had ample time to rest and recover.

“Meanwhile, GT is coming directly from Qualifier 2. There may be a slight advantage there, but not significantly, as both teams are strong and play excellent cricket.”
