Elon Musk
’s company announced on Thursday (July 16) that it needs to determine the cause of the issue before making another attempt to send Starship on a journey around the globe. This was intended to be the 13th flight of Starship, which stands at 407 feet (124 meters) and is equipped with 33 main engines, making it the largest and most powerful rocket in existence.
Among those on board Starship were twenty of
SpaceX’s latest and most advanced Starlink satellites, set to establish communication with others already in orbit while capturing imagery of Starship’s heat shield. Both the first-stage booster and the spacecraft were not intended to be retrieved and were meant to fall into the ocean.
NASA is counting on Starship for its lunar missions, planning to land astronauts on the moon in the coming years.
