The promising top-order batsman showcased his skills during the tour, netting two centuries in as many ‘A’ Test matches. He sustained the injury in the second match against Sri Lanka A and has been receiving rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru since then.
“Sai Sudharsan has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. Medical professionals have recommended extended time for biological healing. While there has been significant improvement, it is still insufficient for a safe return to Test cricket,” states the update from the Sports Science team overseeing his rehabilitation.
The Sports Science team has communicated with management and the national selection committee. The medical and fitness advice for Sudharsan indicates: “Rehabilitation, strength & conditioning, and cricket-specific loads should be incrementally increased under close supervision. This cautious strategy intends to minimize the risk of recurrence or additional complications while safeguarding long-term performance.” In his absence, Devdutt Padikkal, who had a century in the practice match, will step in as the new number three batter.
