Reasons Behind BCCI's Change to the Gujarat Titans vs CSK Schedule in IPL 2026
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a revision to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 schedule on Monday, adjusting the fixtures between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) due to municipal elections in Ahmedabad and surrounding areas on April 26.

The afternoon match between GT and CSK, which was originally planned to take place in Ahmedabad on April 26, will now occur at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, starting at 3:30 PM IST.

“This adjustment has been made in light of the municipal corporation elections in Ahmedabad and other regions of Gujarat on April 26, 2026,” the BCCI stated in a press release.
Consequently, the corresponding fixture between CSK and GT, originally set for May 21 in the evening, has been moved to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with the match scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST.

Both teams have had a somewhat rocky start to the IPL season. CSK suffered three consecutive defeats before securing a victory against the Delhi Capitals (DC) last Saturday. In contrast, GT has managed two wins in four matches, with their latest triumph coming convincingly against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at their home ground on Sunday.

CSK has clinched the IPL title five times, while GT has won once and finished as runners-up in 2023, which was also the last occasion Chennai celebrated a championship win.
