Pakistan navy assists Indian vessel stranded in Arabian Sea
The Pakistani navy answered a distress signal from an Indian ship adrift in the Arabian Sea after a significant technical failure, stated Pakistan’s military on Tuesday (May 5).
The vessel, known as MV Gautam, was carrying a crew of seven—six Indians and one Indonesian—and encountered a severe technical issue while traveling from Oman to India, which left it stranded, according to the statement from the Pakistani military.
The navy deployed the ship Kashmir, which offered food, medical aid, and technical support to stabilize the vessel and ensure the crew’s safety, the statement noted.
Last month, Pakistan reported that its navy had successfully rescued and evacuated 18 crew members from a merchant ship operating in the northern Arabian Sea following a distress call.
