Trump indicated that the suspension will be in effect for “a short period” to determine if a “complete and final agreement with Iran’s representatives” can be achieved.
In reaction to Washington’s approach, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticized the US position, asserting it embraces “a policy of maximum pressure” while “expecting Iran to yield to their unilateral demands,” which he described as “impossible” for Tehran.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reported a second day of missile and drone strikes allegedly launched from Iran. However, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has denied any connection to these attacks, according to Al Jazeera.
Iran has accused US forces of killing five civilians during an operation in the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that the targeted vessels were passenger boats instead of IRGC-operated fast boats.
Meanwhile, Israel has continued its military actions in southern Lebanon, issuing new evacuation alerts to residents ahead of anticipated strikes.
