As an MLB Ambassador, the captain of the 2026 T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team will engage in a variety of events and initiatives in India and the US, showcasing the parallels between baseball and cricket beyond just the bat and ball.
Suryakumar will participate during MLB All-Star week in Philadelphia from July 10-14.
“I’m thrilled to team up with Major League Baseball and be part of its mission in India,” expressed Suryakumar.
“I am eager to deepen my understanding of the game and assist fans in discovering the energy, excitement, and culture that make baseball truly special.”
Additionally, MLB mentioned that Suryakumar would create a diverse array of content aimed at engaging sports fans in India.
The Indian team, under Suryakumar’s leadership, made history in March by becoming the first to win the men’s T20 World Cup three times, decisively defeating New Zealand.
MLB also revealed the renewal of its broadcast partnership with JioStar to provide live games and content to fans nationwide.
“India boasts one of the most dynamic sports cultures globally, and these collaborations enable us to connect with fans in a significant manner,” stated Jeremiah Yolkut, MLB’s senior vice president of global operations.
