Introducing Rylen Anil: The Young Ethical Hacker Who Exposed Irregularities in NEET and JEE Portals
A teenager has discovered and reported a temporary misconfiguration related to the portals used for NEET and JEE examinations. This misconfigured cloud server exposed approximately 1.79 lakh result records and 1.87 lakh admit-card PDFs, containing candidate names, birth dates, and mobile numbers.

As per a statement from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, specific technical interventions were swiftly implemented to assist NEET candidates facing challenges in accessing admit card data and to ensure a seamless registration process.

“These interventions led to a slight, temporary misconfiguration in a cloud storage component. An ethical hacker, Mr. Rylen Anil, discovered this misconfiguration and reported his ability to access the affected database. The problem was promptly corrected, and data access was restricted,” stated the release.

Who is Rylen Anil?

Rylen Anil is a 16-year-old cybersecurity researcher and ethical hacker who gained notable attention for responsibly identifying and exposing significant security vulnerabilities in India’s competitive national entrance exam portals. He is a Class 12 CBSE student at JSS Private School in Dubai and a member of the globally ranked Capture the Flag (CTF) cybersecurity team, g4mra.

In addition to his prominent security audits, Rylen is a passionate computer programmer and technologist. He began learning Python at the age of seven and ventured into ethical hacking around Class 8, utilizing Linux frameworks, bug bounty challenges, and support from his family.

According to his portfolio, Rylen is also a full-stack developer, AI tools creator, and a Core Committee member at the Artificial Intelligence Students Club (AISC). He aims to forge a long-term career in cybersecurity.
