Australia's Wong to Travel to Japan, China, and South Korea for Talks on Energy Security
Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced on Sunday her upcoming trip to Japan, China, and South Korea this week to discuss energy security amid the disruptions stemming from the conflict in the Middle East.

She stated that her meetings with counterparts in these countries would ”assist in ensuring effective coordination” during the turmoil in global energy markets.

• In Tokyo, Wong plans to meet with Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi to discuss energy and fuel security along with the situation in the Middle East.
• While in Beijing, Wong is set to participate in the eighth Australia-China Foreign and Strategic Dialogue alongside China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi. She mentioned that the discussions would ”advance our diverse interests and address our differences”.

• In Seoul, Wong will engage with South Korea’s Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, emphasizing that South Korea is ”one of Australia’s key suppliers of refined fuels”.

• Australia relies heavily on imports for fuel and has faced localized shortages due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which began in February.
