Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi Scheduled to Meet with Putin in Moscow, Russia Confirms Visit

Iran Willing to Engage in Talks with Islamabad, Emphasizes Conditions for a Sustainable Peace Agreement
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday, April 27. This visit is part of a diplomatic tour concentrating on ceasefire discussions, regional tensions, and broader negotiations involving the US and Israel. Russia has confirmed Araghchi’s visit, stating that he will engage with senior officials.

Russia’s foreign ministry informed RIA Novosti, “We confirm a visit by Araghchi to Russia for talks,” although further details were not provided.

As reported by Iran’s ISNA news agency, Tehran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, indicated that Araghchi’s discussions with Putin will center on “consultation with Russian officials regarding the current status of negotiations, the ceasefire, and related developments.”
This stop in Moscow follows a series of diplomatic engagements in the region. Previously, Araghchi returned to Islamabad for further consultations after US President Donald Trump canceled a planned envoy visit, raising concerns about the mediation efforts’ progress.

ISNA reported that during his visit to Pakistan, Araghchi was set to outline “Iran’s positions and views on the framework for a complete resolution of the war” in West Asia.

Prior to that, he visited Oman, while other Iranian envoys went back to Tehran for consultations regarding strategies to end the conflict.

In Islamabad, Araghchi met with Pakistan’s leadership, including Army Chief Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, calling the discussions “very fruitful,” though he expressed uncertainty about Washington’s seriousness, stating, “We have yet to see if the US is genuinely committed to diplomacy.”
