On Thursday, May 28, Anthropic announced that it raised $65 billion, achieving a post-money valuation of $965 billion. This funding is aimed at enhancing computing capacity to meet the rising demand for its chatbot, Claude, and to further expand its product offerings.

The new valuation following the series H funding round places Anthropic ahead of its competitor OpenAI, which was valued at $852 billion post-money in March.

“Since our series G in February, the adoption has continued to increase among global enterprise customers, and our run-rate revenue exceeded $47 billion earlier this month,” stated Anthropic.
Valued at $380 billion in February after securing $30 billion in funding, the latest round was spearheaded by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital. This round includes $15 billion from previously committed investments from hyperscalers, with Amazon contributing $5 billion.

In April, Amazon announced plans to invest up to $25 billion in Anthropic, as the AI startup pledges to allocate over $100 billion in the next decade towards Amazon’s cloud technologies. This is in addition to the previous $8 billion investment made by Amazon in the company.
