AI Update: OpenAI appoints India Managing Director, Google limits Meta AI model usage, Oracle faces concerns over debt.

OpenAI has named Prabhjeet Singh, the former head of Uber India, as the Managing Director for India, marking its second-largest market, which boasts over 100 million weekly ChatGPT users. The company has also limited the distribution of its GPT-5.6 models to chosen partners due to requests from the US government. Meanwhile, Anthropic received partial approval for Claude Mythos 5, and China’s Zhipu launched an open-weight AI model at a reduced cost. Additionally, Google reportedly constrained the usage of Meta’s AI model, and concerns have arisen among investors regarding Oracle’s substantial spending on AI infrastructure and its associated debt.
