Which team advances to the IPL 2025 final if the Qualifier 2 match between MI and PBKS is cancelled due to rain?
Punjab Kings (PBKS) will secure a place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final if their Qualifier 2 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) is canceled due to rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The updated playoff schedule does not include a reserve day for the playoffs, except for the final set to take place at the same venue on Tuesday.

Consequently, PBKS, finishing the league stage in the top position with 19 points from 14 matches, will move forward to the final ahead of MI, who concluded the initial phase with 16 points in fourth place. A superior performance in the league stage grants PBKS the advantage of reaching the final, which does feature a reserve day on June 4.

The locations for the IPL 2025 playoffs have been changed from Hyderabad and Kolkata to Chandigarh and Ahmedabad, respectively, due to the current weather conditions.
After rain affected several league stage matches, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) aimed to prevent similar disruptions during the crucial knockout games. However, Ahmedabad is currently experiencing continuous rainfall, jeopardizing the Qualifier 2 match, which decides who will face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the finals.

The toss has already occurred, with Shreyas Iyer winning the coin flip. PBKS chose to bowl first, prompting MI to add left-arm pacer Reece Topley to their lineup.
