If you have allowed your teenager to get tattooed in New Jersey, you need to be aware of tattoo trends to help alleviate any shock you may feel when your child comes home with their first tattoo.
Here are some of the tattoo trends parents should know about.
What are the new tattoo trends?
Neo-traditional, nostalgic realism and retro aesthetic designs are just a few of the new and emerging tattoo trends, notes Allure.
Cybersigilism is another emerging tattoo trend that teens may adopt.
“Cybersigilism combines futuristic imagery with spiritual or esoteric symbols of the past into one dynamic tattoo,” read Allure’s website. “Characterized by intricate patterns, thin lines, sharp angles, and spiky details, often in black or a graywash technique, these designs lean toward a futuristic goth aesthetic, sometimes blending geometric digital patterns like circuit boards with crosses, angels, fairies, and other mystical symbols or creatures.”
Japanese irezumi, watercolor tattoos are also popular
Japanese irezumi tattoos featuring intricate dragon and koi fish designs are again rising in popularity, notes Chronic Ink Tattoo, as “they blend artistic beauty with rich cultural significance.”
Watercolor tattoos are also an emerging trend, noted Chronic Ink tattoo.
“This style mimics the fluid and vibrant appearance of watercolor paintings,” read Chronic Ink Tattoo’s website. “Popular motifs include butterflies, flowers and Abstract Splashes and Pastel Imagery.”
The next evolution in tattoos includes AI-generated designs.
“AI can create highly detailed and unique designs based on user preferences. This technology offers efficiency and endless creative possibilities,” noted Chronic Ink Tattoo. “This trend highlights the evolving relationship between technology and art, offering new ways to approach tattoo design while preserving traditional craftsmanship.”
Hand-poked tattoos — which are created by a tattoo artist using a single needle instead of a tattoo gun or machine — and sweeping cultural motifs are two other tattoo trends parents should be aware of.
