“We would like to inform that as a precautionary measure, some operations have been temporarily suspended at the company’s facilities in the Ahmedabad zone, following two days of torrential rain and waterlogging,” as stated in a stock exchange filing.
The company made this precautionary decision after heavy rain impacted Ahmedabad over the past two days, according to a regulatory filing. Zydus Lifesciences reported that operations at these facilities have started to resume as weather conditions improve.

Gujarat Rains
Significant rainfall affected multiple areas of Gujarat, leading to extensive relief and rescue efforts, spearheaded by the Army and Coast Guard. Over 40,500 individuals were evacuated and an additional 2,637 were rescued, with five fatalities reported.
According to officials, 49 teams, including NDRF personnel airlifted from Odisha, as well as SDRF, Army, and Coast Guard units, were dispatched to various districts, particularly in Navsari and Valsad, which experienced a break from the incessant downpour after two days of severe rain.
The rain-related fatalities occurred in Tapi, Valsad, Anand, Mehsana, and Panchmahal districts, as stated by Relief Commissioner Gaurang Makwana. Mehmedabad in Kheda recorded 507 mm of rainfall, followed by Dholka in Ahmedabad (473 mm), Chikhli in Navsari (451 mm), Umbergaon in Valsad (434 mm), and Khergam in Navsari (434 mm) during a 24-hour period ending at 6 am on Friday, according to State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) data.

Umbergaon taluka in Valsad, one of the severely affected areas in south Gujarat, experienced over 1,300 mm of rainfall within 48 hours until 6 am on Friday, according to SEOC statistics.
Visuals provided by the Gujarat Information Department showed ICG helicopters airlifting residents from rooftops of houses completely submerged in floodwaters. Both urban and rural regions of Ahmedabad faced heavy rainfall, particularly Dholka taluka, which saw several thousand individuals stranded at home due to waterlogged roads and underpasses, officials reported.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited Ahmedabad city to assess the situation. He examined the rainwater drainage system, spoke with residents, and instructed officials to expedite relief and rescue efforts. Additionally, authorities declared that schools and colleges would remain closed on Saturday.

Ahmedabad Collector Bhavya Verma reported that over 430 individuals were relocated to safer areas and around 40 stranded people were rescued due to waterlogging. Dholka taluka was identified as the most vulnerable area, with Army and NDRF teams deployed there.
Shares of Zydus Lifesciences Ltd closed at ₹1,108.90, down by ₹4.70, or 0.42%, on the BSE.
